Alive She Cried
12:22
|
|||
alive she cried, opened up inside
all the worries and willies ran wide
light shone thru on fresh lily eyes,
rivers and stones and rocks made her home
warm to the sweet, a gift of her own
the birds and the fish and the geese and the crow,
and all the little lights that dance in the shadows
even thru the winters in the fields that lay fallow
pulled from the underbrush, loosed from the shallows,
shining still shining for all the lost ones
who’ve come home!
never knew I that I’d find myself here
heart boundless flowing water so clear
warm in the arms and free of the fear,
in the season of sunlight, in the arms of the breeze
the woodshrew, the hound, the wolf and the tree
knew they too true that this where they’d be,
and thru the currents the electricity singing
till you feel it like static still rising and ringing
flow from the fountains fresh-water that’s bringing,
flowing still flowing for all the lost ones
who’ve come home!

Railroad City
04:46
|
|||
city deep where steel heart beat
and black soot covers up the sky
old man sits with an empty can
begging a dollar or a dime
he can’t sleep and he can’t eat
without downing two bottles of wine
livin in a Railroad City
with the Highway Queen
aint always pretty
sometimes lowdown mean
seems there aint no driver
of the big machine
living in a Railroad City with the Highway Queen
junkyard of rusted cars,
house’s just a broken shack
cigarette packs and hamburger wraps and
tv on full blast
and the tv man with this cheesy tan
tryna scare up some quick cash
livin in a Railroad City
with the Highway Queen
aint always pretty
sometimes lowdown mean
seems there aint no driver
of the big machine
living in a Railroad City with the Highway Queen
with blue or red flags hung up high
everywhere it’s the same ol song
in the province, in the city
the tail wags the dog
high up buildings scraping sky
staring down at us all
livin in a Railroad City
with the Highway Queen
aint always pretty
sometimes lowdown mean
seems there aint no driver
of the big machine
living in a Railroad City with the Highway Queen
just like in every railroad city
down every highway line
from Mumbai to Mississippi
Saskatchewan to Dubai
asphalt nights and truck headlights [with blinking lights]
shanty shacks by the tracks of steel
just like in every railroad city
the deal aint no deal

Revolution 2020 Blues
05:00
|
|||
livin in the city while the city burns
the tv man said it was bad
he didn’t say what the fuss was for
then he played a campaign ad
Doomscrolling with the nervous blues
nothing much seems to change
normal day, week and month, and year,
the whole world’s going insane
got a job cashin delivery fees
then on the weekend I’m a revolutionary
down in a basement in a nearby town
where the dudes hiding out
they’re hacking laptops in their bulletproof vests
directing troops from the couch
never alone, they’re in my cellphone
somebody’s listening to me
it ain’t Siri, no it aint no Google
think it must be police
better keep movin or they’ll know what you do
it’s the Revolution 2020 blues
man in a suit skyscraper high
signs his name on the line
he’s playin’ die with their very livers
but he keeps it far out of his mind
opposing armies on the battlefield
can see them just down the street
see them lined up with their shooting guns
yeah they looking mean
the shops and windows boarded up too
there’s no telling what they might do
how much longer can we keep holding on?
I feel like I’m gonna crack
its every night, every morning at 4
think the smoke’s coming back
there ain’t no city, there ain’t no township
there ain’t no place to get away
the fires burning all thru the province
I don’t know what I can say
the heat and the smoke and the evening news
Revolution 2020 blues
out in the country far from the flashbangs
I know a place we can stay
got 15 cases of vitamin water
stockpiling double As
they took the mailbox out from the porch
they broke the machinery
in the big house they’re sweating tough
way that it seems to me
pace of of the punches got me fearin’ too
Revolution 2020 blues
heard bout the trouble with the central banks
I’m buying crypto this week
cuz if its true they tracking you too
but they wont find me
I use encryption get my prescription
enough to get me through
it’s my subscription to ease the friction
that’s just between me and you
you better keep your lips sealed too
that Revolution 2020 blues

Miss Me In The End
04:33
|
|||
you wake up in a strange place
holdin aces or holdin none
aint a smile that cracks your little face
but a scream at whats been done
that old jester with his bell hat
Mr. Tambourine Man with a smile
he don’t care if his the world cracks
he’ll laugh it off all the while
no one wants to be forgotten
we aint got but one chance to spend
I aint giving up on living
you gonna miss me in the end
politicians with their clay hats
got something on their minds
with the way they got the world stacked
most folks don’t even try
and it’s hard to find a reason
it’s hard to find a rhyme
aint no choice to me that’s pleasing
you know it aint real kind
you could live in out in the country
you could live out in the town
where that rooster crow at daybreak
and they grow it in the ground
when I’m gone from now hereafter
passin thru the sweet by & by
ten thousand times the light’s slow passage
they’ll still hear the echoes of my cry [mind]
take me to the highest canyon
there I will stand along the edge
paint my name across the sky blue
you gonna miss me in the end
you gonna miss me in the end
you gonna miss me in the end
you gonna miss me in the end
