alive she cried, opened up inside all the worries and willies ran wide light shone thru on fresh lily eyes, rivers and stones and rocks made her home warm to the sweet, a gift of her own the birds and the fish and the geese and the crow, and all the little lights that dance in the shadows even thru the winters in the fields that lay fallow pulled from the underbrush, loosed from the shallows, shining still shining for all the lost ones who’ve come home! never knew I that I’d find myself here heart boundless flowing water so clear warm in the arms and free of the fear, in the season of sunlight, in the arms of the breeze the woodshrew, the hound, the wolf and the tree knew they too true that this where they’d be, and thru the currents the electricity singing till you feel it like static still rising and ringing flow from the fountains fresh-water that’s bringing, flowing still flowing for all the lost ones who’ve come home!

about

I WATCHED MY EXIT FADE…
Recorded in northeast Portland, OR during the end of Covid lockdown, Stuck, Lost Ox’s third full-length album, features an all-original brew of funk, blues, progressive rock, and psychedelic country, with noticeable nods to the jamband greats of the 90s. With shredding guitar solos, funky bass lines, and complex arrangements the band is very much in their wheelhouse on this release. On this album the band refined their instrumental storytelling vehicles, complementing them with top notch lyricism to create multi-part epics with exciting climaxes and delicate moments. The title track, “Stuck”, features a four part string section and Afro-Cuban styled “Bean Dip” features multi-part horn arrangements. The band lived through and participated in the 2020 civil rights protests here in Portland, and with quick, rapidfire lyrics and an anxious, funky backbeat “Revolution 2020 Blues” captures and communicates essential and communal angst of the time. Available on Dutch Records on 9/23.
